For example "The Upper Kings Gold", which is equivalent to the Kings Silver without the long hike out.
Please check back regularly for updates on which trips will be available. Most 2012 trips typically start in Mid to early June.
Brand new trip now available -
Middle Forest Rappel,
Also new this year - Boyden Cavern Adventures & Tours Inc. will be offering a sports massage add on to any guest or guests reserving a canyoning tour!
After our wilderness guide introduced h
imself and his assistant, we began to "don" rappelling gear, seat harness and clip carabineers to our dry pack. Finally we were issued a canyon shoe that in the end did us wonders, incredible that rubber can stick so well in either wet or dry polished rock conditions.
We were nervous at the first rappel, with equipment in hand and out guide coaching us through the details, my self and my 12 year old daughter came to rest at the bottom of a 30 foot waterfall. Her eyes were alive with excitement and the guides were amazing coaches.
Thanks for best time ever,
Beverly T.
My family which included my two brothers and our wives, with six kids, who ranged in age from 7 to 17....Spent time with these guys. The middle forest trip was as much fun as they said it was, every member of our family had a great time, see you all next year.

kings Castle (
overnight in Boyden Cavern, designed for groups of 10 people or more) all ages. The best fit for this activity is for Boyscout groups or other organized groups looking for Kid or young adult friendly activities. Spending the night in the cavern is quite an extrodnairy activity. Especially if it is combined with one of our canyoneering trips. Enter the cavern at about 7:30 to 8:00 at night with your overnight equipment. The overnighter is great for large families and group activities.
After entering the cavern, and once your personal gear is settled. Guides begin the fun and challenging "Flash Light Tour", this part of the overnight includes, climbing, crawling, exploring passages well off the main trail....Oh, and some squeezing. This part of the trip can be set out if someone did not want to do the crawl. Flash Light Tour is only an introduction to caving and only has an adventure level of 3 out of scale going to 10. After the crawling and once everyone is settled into their sleeping bags, the guides start the stories about Kings Canyon, Mr. Boyden the Monanche Indians and finally a brief history of the amazing geology which created Boyden Cavern and the surrounding marble mountains.

Middle Forest Rapp
e
l - Meet at Boyden Cavern parking lot at your reserved time and date. We
will leave as a group in Boyden Cavern vehi
cles, to the Middle Forest
Rappel site. Let off at the trail head to the first
rappel, hike about 25 minutes down hill. There may be some fallen trees,
lose rock and bushes on this unmaintained deer trail. At the first
rappel point the view is of an amazing panorama of Kings Canyon. Below
you are hundreds of feet of polished granite, slate and shale. This
rappel is 100'+. The angle is just right for those who want to get some
rope time in with out the anxiety of extreme slope or complete overhang.
This is a gentle decent wit
h plenty of time to relax a bit and enjoy
the view. At this point you will have some time for photo
s and water
break. The second rappel is 90'+ and offers just a slight more angle on
the rock, as well as a couple of minor obstacles to negotiate. At the
bottom of the second repel, the guides and guests wait for the remainder
of the group to descend, usually the group starts to cheer and
congratulate each other as they step back onto fla
t ground.
The
hike out follows another deer trail, there i
s a rock scramble as we near
the water crossing, then a hand-line climb up over a moss covered,
slippery rock. Depending on the water level the water crossing could be
assisted or just a few steps over the creek. Now we begin a 20 to 30 minute hike up
another deer trail that is steep and requires going through brush, over
a fallen tree or two, and a short climb between a couple of Granite
boulders. Your guides will allow plenty of time for rest breaks,
picture taking, and re-hydration. At this time you are able to see the
granite slopes you have rappelled and you will have the time to
appreciate your accomplishments. When we finally reach our vehicles
they will have cool drinks and delicious snacks. The drive back to the
Boyden Cavern parking lot will be 25 minutes, plenty of time to check
your photos, chat with the guides and ready your info to be uploaded to
you social netwo
rking page.
